Prabal Malaker – Then and Now

žThe HF 24 was my first operational ac. I had the privilege of serving as a Sqn Pilot in all three Marut Sqns viz 10, 31 and 220 from Apr 78 to Jul 81.I left the Marut fleet with 277 hrs on the ac and converted onto the MiG 21 Bis.

Married(Wife Renuka) with two sons Gaurav and Aditya. All of this was achieved after I moved from the fleet though the initial grounding(pun intended) was with the Maruts.

žPresently settled in Delhi. I am the Hon Vice Chairperson of The Multiple Sclerosis Society of India(Delhi Chapter). Multiple Sclerosis is a degenerative disease of the Central Nervous System and I am afflicted with it which has resulted in restricted mobility. Not withstanding that I will be there to relive the spirit of the HF 24 and Daggers.

Thanks Ravi.My first lesson in armament delivery errors was from you at 31 Sqn. Not by choice but on the orders of our CO Stona. The preamble went some what like this `Stona-Mal what kind of errors would you have while bombing with a shallow dive angle? Mal(hesitantly)-Overshoot? Stona-Do you know about Zeenat Aman, Parveen Babi and Hema Malini? Mal(relieved that the inquisition had taken an interesting turn) Yes Sir. Stona- Mal you bloody so and so you know all about heroines but you have no clue about your basic profession.Ravi take this—- and teach him all about armament delivery errors. There will be no flying for him till he is absolutely conversant.Ravi I have never forgotten that lesson till date. Thanks once again.
