Received from Ravi Burli:
Of our naval brethren, I do not know about Narayan, but Robin Chonkar was a dear course mate (48 NDA). I did not come across him in a Marut Sqn, as I was posted out by then. I did however see him last when he did the FIS course in Tambaram while I was an instructor there from 85 to 87. As we had all expected, he did very well.
We who knew him were shocked to hear of his sad untimely demise in Calcutta recently. He was a fine professional, excellent swimmer and an exemplary human being.
One ponders of what good are we, if we were not in our brief lifespan, to provide our surviving associates something decent to remember us kindly by. That is what Robin certainly did. He will ever remain alive in our minds and thoughts.
