Robin Chonkar – RIP

Received from Ravi Burli:

Of our naval brethren, I do not know about Narayan, but Robin Chonkar was a dear course mate (48 NDA). I did not come across him in a Marut Sqn, as I was posted out by then. I did however see him last when he did the FIS course in Tambaram while I was an instructor there from 85 to 87. As we had all expected, he did very well.

We who knew him were shocked to hear of his sad untimely demise in Calcutta recently. He was a fine professional, excellent swimmer and an exemplary human being.

One ponders of what good are we, if we were not in our brief lifespan, to provide our surviving associates something decent to remember us kindly by. That is what Robin certainly did. He will ever remain alive in our minds and thoughts.

Thank you, Ravi, for the kind words about my brother Robin. His death came as a shock to all especially our mother. His life’s journey ended too soon. Best wishes, Vinita Ghose

  2. Rana Biswas says:

    FAREWELL, ROBIN CHONKAR
Farewell, Robin, friend of my youth.
May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
May the rains fall softly on you,
    And until we meet again,
May the Lord hold you in the palm of His hand.

    Rana Biswas, (48 NDA)
(I came to know of your passing only now. Till we meet again, my friend.)
